This role leads the accounting function, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial information while championing automation and AI-powered tools to improve efficiency and reporting. Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Abides by Ensworth’s Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct Commits to the ideals expressed in Ensworth’s Mission Statement, Vision Statement, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Statement Adheres to the Essential Expectations of an Ensworth Faculty, Staff, or Administrator Performs and oversees monthly reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts, including: Cash and investment accounts Accounts receivable and tuition receivable Accounts payable and accrued liabilities Payroll clearing and benefit accounts Endowment and restricted fund balances Oversees day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations, and fund accounting across all divisions Performs and reviews monthly reconciliations for cash, receivables, investments, interfund balances, prepaid expenses, deferred revenue, and restricted funds Leads the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes; prepares financial statements, management dashboards, and budget-to-actual reports for leadership and budget managers Maintains and enhances internal controls, accounting policies, and documentation to ensure compliance, data integrity, and audit readiness Supports the CFO and Director of Finance with annual budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis process to inform strategic planning and resource allocation Collaborates with Advancement, Admissions, and Auxiliary teams to reconcile and validate revenue across Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT, Raiser’s Edge NXT, and Tuition Management Leverages Blackbaud’s AI features, including automated bank reconciliations, invoice scanning, and natural language reporting, to optimize accuracy, speed, and insight Develops and deploys AI-driven dashboards and predictive analytics using tools such as Power BI, Excel Power Query, and Blackbaud’s emerging AI integrations to enhance reporting and forecasting Partners with IT and operations to implement intelligent automation solutions (e.g., workflow bots, data extraction tools, and anomaly detection) and strengthen system interoperability Other duties as assigned Qualifications/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field is preferred Certified Public Accountant is preferred Prior experience in public accounting is preferred Specialized knowledge of AI/automation tools to streamline accounting processes and enhance financial insights is required Advanced understanding and ability to use computers and technology; prior experience and proficiency using Microsoft Excel, ERP systems (e.g., Blackbaud, Senior Systems, Counterpoint, CampBrain, etc.) is required; prior experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Paycom, ADP, ExponentHR, etc.) is preferred Well-developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment, including students, co-workers, parents, alumnae, volunteers, and the public Adaptability, honesty, self-reliance, teamwork, organization skills, dependability, flexibility, willingness to listen and learn, work ethic, determination, persistence, problem-solving and analytical skills, loyalty, and congeniality are essential Must successfully complete background screening and verification Continued Education Programs (as required by Grade Level and/or position) – Periodically participate in different training sessions identified by you, the employee and/or Divisional Leadership/Supervisor with the goal of keeping our teachers and staff up to date with current teaching methods, practices and any new knowledge in their respective field. Dependent on the program, such training may need to take place outside of normal working hours and/or in the summer months. Physical Requirements and Work Environment: Regularly works in standard office or classroom conditions and climate; occasionally works outdoors in varying weather conditions and climate Regularly uses close vision and works at a computer screen for extended periods of time Works at a desk for extended periods of time; regularly moves around campus and between campuses to supervise auxiliary programs in a variety of indoor and outdoor locations Ability to occasionally move items weighing up to 30 lbs. across the campuses/office Works in a stressful environment, effectively dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts; frequently requires the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions Ability to regularly work flexible hours to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines and to support before and after-school or weekend activities Ensworth requires employees to be physically present on campus, with limited exceptions that are at the sole discretion of the School.
