General Job Summary: This position will assist the Controller in managing the day-to-day accounting operations of the bank. This role is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, overseeing key accounting functions, and supporting timely and accurate monthly close processes. The Accounting Manager will both prepare and review accounting work while ensuring adherence to internal controls and established accounting procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Support daily accounting operations of the bank. Prepare selected monthly reconciliations and review reconciliations prepared by other accounting team members, including cash, balance sheet and other key general ledger accounts. Oversee the accounts’ payable function, including review of vendor maintenance and payment processes. Assist with cash management activities, including monitoring and maintaining daily cash balances. Review journal entries, accruals and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness. Assist with month end close procedures, ensuring deadlines are met and accounting records are accurate. Oversee accounting for fixed assets and prepaid expenses, including capitalization, amortization and depreciation. Establish, maintain, and ensure the accuracy of general ledger accounts and supporting schedules. Collaborate with the Controller on special projects and ad hoc accounting tasks as needed. Assist with the development and maintenance of accounting procedures and internal controls related to daily accounting operations. Requirements Strong understanding of accounting principles (U.S. GAAP) and general ledger management within an operational accounting environment. Experience supporting and coordinating multiple accounting functions simultaneously. Advanced Excel skills, including use of formulas, pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions. Strong analytical, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills. Ability to review work prepared by others and communicate questions or recommendations clearly and professionally. Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required. 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience; financial institution or regulated industry experience preferred. Prior experience in a supervisory or review capacity is a plus.
