Role Overview The Accounting Manager will be responsible for leading and coordinating the Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and General Ledger (GL) functions across three countries: Germany, Bulgaria, and Poland. This role has end-to-end ownership of core accounting processes, strong exposure to intercompany transactions, and a clear mandate to drive operational process improvements in a SAP ERP environment. The ideal candidate combines solid technical accounting knowledge with hands-on leadership capabilities and a continuous improvement mindset. Key Responsibilities 1. Financial Operations & Accounting Lead and oversee AP, AR, and GL teams across multiple countries. Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant accounting in line with local GAAP and group policies. Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes. Supervise balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and provisions. Act as key contact for external auditors and internal stakeholders 2. Intercompany & Cross-Border Activities Manage and optimize intercompany accounting processes, including: Intercompany reconciliations Cross-charges and settlements Transfer pricing support (in collaboration with Tax) Ensure consistency and alignment of intercompany processes across Germany, Bulgaria, and Poland 3. Process Improvement & Standardization Identify, design, and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. Drive standardization of accounting processes across countries. Support automation and digitalization initiatives within finance operations. Actively contribute to best practice sharing across regions. 4. SAP & Systems Act as a key finance user for SAP (FI/CO focus). Ensure proper configuration, usage, and compliance of SAP accounting processes. Participate in system enhancements, upgrades, and process harmonization projects. Collaborate closely with IT and Shared Services (if applicable). 5. People Management & Stakeholder Collaboration Lead, develop, and motivate multinational finance teams. Set clear objectives, monitor performance, and support professional development. Collaborate with: Controlling Tax Treasury Local management teams Serve as a trusted finance partner to operational and regional stakeholders. Professional Experience Minimum 7–10 years of experience in Accounting / Finance Operations. Proven experience managing AP, AR, and GL functions. Strong exposure to multinational or multi-country environments. Hands-on experience with intercompany accounting. Prior experience in process optimization or finance transformation projects Technical Skills Strong accounting knowledge (local GAAP; IFRS exposure is a plus). Solid SAP FI/CO experience. Advanced Excel skills; exposure to reporting tools is an advantage. Good understanding of internal controls and audit requirements. Leadership & Soft Skills Proven people management experience in an international context. Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented mindset. Strong communication skills; ability to work across cultures and functions. Proactive, hands-on, and comfortable operating in a changing environment. Languages Fluent English (mandatory). German or other European languages represent a strong advantage.
