Job Summary The Accounting Manager reports to the Finance Director of Corporate Accounting and is responsible for leading the Company's day-to-day accounting operations while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger. This hands-on leadership role oversees the monthly close process and core accounting functions, including payroll, operating expenses, capital expenditures, fixed assets, cash, and bank account reconciliations. The Accounting Manager plays a critical role in supporting the Finance Director with the preparation of consolidated financial statements and internal/external financial reporting by delivering timely, accurate financial information, maintaining strong internal controls, and ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who is equally comfortable managing a team and performing hands on accounting work focused on driving efficient and effective accounting operations. Essential Responsibilities General Accounting & Month-End Close Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Ensure the integrity of the general ledger and compliance with accounting policies. Analyze financial results and investigate variances as needed. Proactively implement analytical reviews to quickly identify, understand and assess necessary adjustments during close. Financial Reporting Support Support the Finance Director in the preparation of consolidated financial statements and monthly management reporting. Support efficient and effective reporting, journal entries and analysis required to consolidate financials, including the reconciliation of intercompany accounts. Support annual financial statement audits and coordinate audit requests. Support preparation of schedules for financial statement disclosures. Payroll Oversight Oversee payroll accounting and related reconciliations. Ensure payroll transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled each pay period. Partner with Human Resources and payroll providers to ensure timely and compliant payroll processing. Operating Expenses, Capital Expenditures & Fixed Assets Oversee accounting for operating expenses and capital expenditures. Ensure proper capitalization of assets in accordance with Company policy. Maintain the fixed asset register, depreciation schedules, and asset disposals. Review capital project accounting and related reconciliations. Cash & Bank Accounting Oversee all bank account reconciliations and cash accounting activities. Ensure timely recording of cash transactions and resolution of reconciling items. Drive implementation of tools or process improvements to enhance reconciliation and transaction recording processes Support treasury activities by maintaining accurate cash records and strong internal controls. Leadership & Team Development Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team. Establish priorities and ensure work is completed accurately and on schedule. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development. Process Improvement & Internal Controls Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and automate manual activities. Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting. Participate in ERP enhancements, process improvement initiatives, and cross-functional projects. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA preferred. 5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience. Including experience in financial close and general ledger accounting. Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, operational accounting and financial reporting. Previous experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff. Experience supporting consolidated financial reporting in a high growth, multi-entity organization. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar. Preferred: Experience supporting system implementations and accounting process improvements.
