Responsibilities/Qualifications The Accounting Manager will be responsible for assisting with the monthly financial statement close and reporting process, the annual budget for corporate store locations, year-end audit support, and related tasks within the accounting and finance department. This position will manage and develop a team of four staff accountants with responsibility over their day-to-day responsibilities. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Perform accounting responsibilities in support of corporate stores (70%) Ensure that all appropriate business activities are recorded in the general ledger timely and accurately according to the period-end close calendar Timely reconciliation and review of various balance sheet accounts according to policy Assist with month-end variance research and analysis Assist with year-end audit support requests Assist with ad hoc accounting and finance related projects as needed Provide leadership to the team (20%) Lead, train, and develop accounting staff and support their activities and tasks Review the journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations of staff accountants Manage the overall operation of the store accounting team to ensure accurate recording of both online and store point-of-sales transactions and store expenses Financial Budgeting and Analysis (10%) Assist with preparation of business unit budgets Collaborate with store operations leadership in establishing realistic budgets based on activities and initiatives planned by the team QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting is required CPA/MBA is strongly preferred 5 - 7 years of accounting experience in corporate or public accounting. Big four experience preferred Experience leading a team is required Experience with account reconciliations, general ledger, and reporting & analysis is required Meticulous, accurate, flexible, and able to work in a dynamic team-centric environment Results-driven and possess strong analytical skills Initiative-taking and confidence in communication Able to manage priorities and time effectively Experience with ERP systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications About Company Pet Supplies Plus is focused on making it easier to get better products for your pet.
