JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in nonprofit accounting, financial management, and regulatory compliance. This role involves ensuring adherence to GAAP, and providing strategic financial insights to support organizational growth.

Skills & Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of nonprofit accounting or bookkeeping experience.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Medicaid billing and claims reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit grants management and reporting.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit compliance standards and audits

Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Maintain accurate general ledger records in compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Monitor account balances, reconcile discrepancies, and ensure timely posting of payroll and journal entries.
  • Prepare regular financial reports for leadership, including month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Support annual audits by preparing required schedules and documentation.

Billing & Receivables

  • Process and reconcile payments (cash, credit, insurance, Medicaid, etc.) and ensure billing accuracy.
  • Generate and distribute invoices; respond to client billing inquiries.
  • Submit, track, and reconcile Medicaid claims and other receivables (insurance, sliding scale, fee-for-service).
  • Monitor outstanding balances and assist with collection efforts.

Budgeting & Strategic Support

  • Collaborate with leadership to prepare the annual operating budget and financial forecasts.
  • Provide financial analysis to support program and organizational decision-making.
  • Work with Consultant CFO and Executive Director to strengthen financial systems and workflows.

Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Ensure adherence to nonprofit financial compliance requirements.
  • Maintain and update financial policies and internal controls.
  • Safeguard confidentiality and compliance in handling client and financial data.
