Description

Velocity is seeking to hire an Accounting Manager. As Accounting Manager your primary focus will be to oversee revenue, including managing the billing, sales & tax calculations and filings and revenue recognition processes. This involves working closely with all departments across the organization to ensure our transactions are compliant with our revenue policies and GAAP. The Accounting Manager leads the billing team and reports to the Sr. Accounting Manager. Fully remote opportunity.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely completion and accuracy of monthly financials related to revenue, billing, and COGS recognition.
  • Work with other leaders across the organization to develop and implement a new order-to-cash system and monitor compliance with the process.
  • Improve upon current revenue reporting standards across all stages of the revenue funnel.
  • Manage the customer invoicing team.
  • Review of all new sales contracts/orders to: 1) identify contract alterations 2) generate accurate billing of all new contracts or revisions to current contracts and 3) recognize revenue according to GAAP.
  • Lead monthly review of all new client accounts with the sales and customer service teams.
  • Leverage ERP (NetSuite) for managing revenue arrangements and appropriate segmenting of billing.
  • Develop internal controls and processes to support revenue management activities.
  • Compile data, conduct statistical and analytical studies of billing and revenue volume, dollar value, and revenue fluctuations, and prepare regular and special/project reports for review in planning and evaluating department objectives.
  • Assist with other month-end accounting close responsibilities as needed by the team.
  • Provide staff with training, direction, guidance, and feedback to ensure a motivated and productive staff.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • 3+ years experience as an Accounting Manager/Supervisor, focused on Revenue recognition.
  • 5+ years in public accounting or corporate level accounting experience.
  • 5+ years of accounting management experience for a large company or division of a large corporation.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Statistical analysis and understanding of risk assessment techniques.
  • The ability to work with complex models, spreadsheets, data and reports.
  • Demonstrated knowledge generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), aptitude for problem-solving, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills are essential.
  • Ability to present and explain financial data in a concise and understandable manner.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Superior Excel skills.
  • Experience with NetSuite.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical ability to problem solve.
  • Self-starter and can work well independently as well as with others on a team.
  • Ability to interface with executive team.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects with a sense of urgency.
  • Business acumen with ability to understand complex issues, provide strategic counsel to leadership.
  • Ability to manage complex/sensitive projects while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with peers, senior leadership and all levels of the organization, with a positive and professional image.
