Description
We’re seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Accounts Officer who is ready to take the next step in their accounting career. This role is perfect for someone nearing the completion of their accounting qualifications, or who has recently finished and is eager to continue developing their skills in a supportive, hands‑on environment. In this role, you will perform a range of routine accounting tasks, including preparing and processing journals, completing general ledger reconciliations, assisting with month‑end procedures, and reviewing supplier payment reports. You will also support the Financial Accountant with month‑end duties and contribute to the preparation of quarterly and annual financial reports. As an entry‑level team member, you’ll work closely with our finance team to support day‑to‑day accounting and administrative functions. You’ll gain exposure to a broad variety of tasks and develop practical, foundational skills that will help set you up for long‑term success in your accounting career. Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities. In Papua New Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project. In Australia, Harmony owns the high-grade CSA copper mine in Cobar, NSW and is constructing the Eva Copper Mine in Cloncurry, QLD with first production targeted for the second half of the 2028 calendar year. These assets are supported by the Harmony Australasia regional corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane.
Responsibilities
The Accounting Officer will perform routine accounting tasks such as processing journals, reconciling general ledgers, and assisting with month-end procedures. They will also support the Financial Accountant in preparing quarterly and annual financial reports.
