Description

We are seeking a meticulous and reliable Accounting Officer to manage day-to-day financial operations and support the organisation’s financial compliance and reporting obligations. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting business sustainability, ensuring accuracy in financial processes, and maintaining records in line with ASQA, CRICOS, and RTO Standards 2015 and 2025 requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience (RTO or education sector preferred)
  • Solid understanding of Australian taxation (GST, PAYG, BAS) and accounting compliance requirements
  • Proficient in accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, or QuickBooks
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and general IT skills
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with staff, students, and third parties
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion

Responsibilities
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, receipts, and payments
  • Reconcile bank statements, student fee payments, and financial ledgers regularly
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial reports, budgets, and cash flow forecasts
  • Ensure timely payment of wages, superannuation, BAS, GST, and PAYG obligations
  • Support the preparation of financial documentation for audits and compliance reviews
  • Maintain student financial records and work closely with the admissions and compliance teams to ensure fee transparency
  • Monitor outstanding student fees and follow up on payment plans and debt recovery processes
  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and tax agents as required
  • Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards, ASQA financial viability requirements, and RTO reporting obligations
  • Assist in maintaining financial policies and internal control procedures
