ROLE SUMMARY

Fast growing accounting / consulting firm looking for a leader in our 9-person accounting operations team for a remote position. This individual will be responsible for day-to-day bookkeeping delivery, monthly financial reporting, and audit readiness across a portfolio of clients. This role oversees workflow execution (AP, AR, prepaids, accruals), ensures timely and accurate closes, and uses Keeper (or equivalent workflow/close management tool) to monitor status, quality, and deliverables. You’ll coach and develop staff, coordinate audit support, and present clean, review-ready financial packages to management and clients. Qualified individuals will have the opportunity to join our employee friendly corporate culture, which also offers superior compensation, bonus and benefit packages, career growth, and mobility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Team Leadership: Direct, mentor, and develop a team of ~9 accounting professionals across multiple levels and locations; provide structured feedback focused on growth and learning opportunities.
  • Workflow & Close Management: Own the end-to-end close calendar using Keeper (or similar) to track tasks, dependencies, and completion status across all clients.
  • Client Communication & Bookkeeping Oversight: Maintain regular communication with clients to resolve open items, clarify transactions, and ensure expectations are aligned. Oversee bookkeeping staff to ensure timely and accurate entry of all financial activity, escalating concerns as needed.
  • Process Expertise: To assist with the Director of Finance & Accounting Services Design, document, and oversee workflows for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable (including application of payments), Prepaid schedules, Accrual capture, and period-end cutoffs.
  • Financial Review: Review and approve monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash detail, and variance/flux where applicable) prior to client distribution; confirm completeness, period alignment, and supporting schedules.
  • Quality & Continuous Improvement: Identify process gaps, recurring reconciling items, and automation opportunities; implement standard templates and review checklists across the team.
  • Staff Development & Capacity Planning: Monitor workload across clients; reassign tasks, cross-train staff, and recommend hiring or outsourcing where needed.
