BE is a division of Waséyabek Development Company, LLC that is wholly owned by the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi, a Federally recognized Indian Tribe.   POSITION SUMMARY The Accounting & Operations Specialist is responsible for a broad range of accounting, payroll, and administrative functions, with a strong emphasis on government contract compliance and reporting. This role supports financial operations through invoicing, accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, reconciliations, and reporting, while also assisting with purchasing, compliance registrations, and general office operations.     ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  Accounting & Financial Operations * Process customer invoicing, including government contract billing * Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable * Perform weekly and monthly account reconciliations * Prepare monthly financial and accounting reports * Assist in annual budgeting, variance analysis, and financial planning * Support year-end tax reporting activities Payroll Administration * Process bi-weekly payroll, including deductions (401k, child support, etc.) * Ensure accurate payroll tax reporting and compliance * Verify labor allocation for government contract work Government Contracting & Compliance * Manage billing and reporting for government contracts * Maintain compliance with ITAR requirements and related guidelines * Administer and maintain registrations (SAM, SBIR, ITAR) * Track and label government property per regulations Purchasing & Operations Support * Generate and manage purchase orders from requisitions * Order materials, parts, and supplies * Assist with inventory counts and tracking * Support ISO audit coordination * Coordinate facility maintenance vendors * Other duties as assigned by upper management Reporting & Analysis * Prepare and analyze financial and operational reports * Identify trends and provide insights to management * Assist with performance quoting and cost tracking * Administrative & Cross-Functional Support * Maintain organized office systems and records * Communicate with customers and vendors   MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in accounting, payroll, or financial operations. * 3–5 years of experience in accounting, payroll, or similar role * Experience with AP/AR, payroll processing, and general accounting * Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required) * Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills * High attention to detail and accuracy * Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities * U.S. Citizenship (ITAR compliance required)   PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience in a manufacturing environment * Familiarity with government contract billing and reporting * Experience with payroll tied to government contracts * Experience with Sage or similar accounting/payroll systems * Exposure to ISO audits or compliance processes * Prior knowledge or experience working with a Native American Tribe.  WORK ENVIRONMENT Office environment TRAVEL This position does not require travel POSITION TYPE Full-time salaried non-exempt RELOCATION Relocation expenses are not provided HIRING PREFERENCE Veteran Hiring & Native American Preferences will be applied in accordance with BE policy.  Baker Engineering is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
