SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting and Payroll Manager to support the accounting operations of multiple related U.S. companies. This position will work directly with the Controller and VP of Human Resources as well as cross-departmentally to support the organization and ensure accuracy of financial information. The Accounting and Payroll Manager will manage the payroll process for the organization and will play a key role in the month end close process and in preparation for audits. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in managing multi-entity accounting, strong leadership capabilities, and a hands-on approach to continuous improvement. The ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment on significant matters is a crucial aspect of this position.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Generally, requires a minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting in a high-volume accounting department. Prior supervisory experience required. Other required experience includes:

  • Understanding of the key accounting principles (IFRS and/or US GAAP)
  • Experience leading or supporting the accounting function for multiple entities, ideally in a consolidated group structure.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with accounting/ERP software (SAP preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUPs, VLOOKUPS) for account analysis and reconciliation.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skill

Responsibilities
  • Support the Controller and FP&A team in the month end process and ensure proper review of assigned areas of the financial statements.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and adjustments for accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage accounting processes for multiple related legal entities, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls, streamline processes and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of federal and state income tax, sales/use tax, payroll tax and regulatory filings.
  • Assist in preparation for all audits, including coordinating activities, preparing and reviewing information provided.
  • Manage full-cycle, multi-jurisdictional payroll for multiple entities across the U.S. and Canada, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
  • Supervise and mentor team members, delegating responsibilities and supporting their professional development.
  • Collaborate with FP&A, operations, legal, and human resources departments to support business objectives.
  • Process and reconcile 401(k) contributions, including employee and employer matching, and support 401(k) audits with accurate and timely reporting.
  • Lead internal and external audits related to payroll, tax filings, and benefits plans including annual worker’s compensation and 401(k) audits.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma required. Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent experience in related field required.
