Description KT is seeking a motivated individual to join our accounting services team. About Us: Ketel Thorstenson, LLP, is a full-service accounting firm rich in history, serving clients in the Black Hills region since 1936. Currently, we have 25 partners and over 50 CPAs, with offices in Rapid City and Spearfish, SD, Gillette and now Casper WY. The firm offers a variety of accounting services, specializing in the agricultural, construction, hospitality, estate planning, nonprofit, and government industries. Responsibilities Provide timely, accurate, and ongoing assistance and service to designated clients, including, but not limited to: Maintaining general ledger and all related accounts with proper documentation and records of all company transactions. Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing of the general ledger, including preparation of journal entries. Preparation of payroll checks, records, and reports. Process month-end balancing and journal entries; complete the month-end process. Prepare monthly bank reconciliation for all accounts; verify accuracy of bank statements and resolve questions or problems; maintain integrity of cash balances and cash flow systems. Prepare sales and use tax reports for appropriate states. Provide assistance to all firm clients as requested. Review and proof work completed by staff. Represent clients in sales tax and Department of Labor audits. Collaborate closely with partners and staff on client management. Continue to develop working relationships with co-workers. Develop a strong relationship with clients through regular contact, personal attention, and good money-saving advice; serve as a trusted client advisor. Possess advanced technical knowledge and stay up to date on all changes to laws and regulations. Research and present internal technical seminars on a variety of topics. Assist with the initial and ongoing training of staff. Mentor staff and help them acclimate to the department and firm. Assist with recruitment and engagement activities. Actively participate in and promote to others firm-sponsored team-building activities. Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis, including personal development and leadership training. Adhere to any professional licensing continuing education requirements. Participate in outside organizations to expand opportunities (i.e., be present in your community through community services, sports, clubs, etc.) Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality. Demonstrate a high-level of commitment to KTLLP; possess a positive attitude; and ability to have fun Be a problem solver with focus and drive; ability to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Possess efficient organization and time management skills. Other duties as assigned by Partner-in-Charge or another member of the Partner group. Requirements Required Qualifications Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field. Minimum 3 years of experience Experience in accounting and/or bookkeeping. Or appropriate combination of education and experience. Demonstrate professionalism through strong ethical conduct. Exceptional client service and communications skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships. Computer software experience, including knowledge of bookkeeping/accounting software. Willingness to put forth the effort necessary to meet client’s deadlines and accommodate client needs Exceptional client service and communication skills, including written and verbal communication. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers. Strong dedication to teamwork. Work Environment and Physical Demands This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, and fax machines. The employee will sit for prolonged periods of time at a desk and work on a computer. The employee may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Schedule and Benefits This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week; required hours during busy season (January – February) may increase up to 56 hours per week.
