The Assistant Controller will be responsible for development of processes and procedures supporting accounting and finance functions, particularly fixed-price and time and material projects; assisting with the budget and forecasting process, managing the accumulation and consolidation of the financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating and enhancing accounting and internal control systems, and working on new finance and accounting initiatives, including acquisition integration. This role will report to the Chief Financial Officer and work very closely with the Controller.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting the CFO, Vice President of Finance and Controller with month-end close and financial reporting, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Work collaboratively to develop and/or improve systems, processes, controls and procedures that impact accounting and financial reporting
  • Interface with management on annual budget performance, job costs, margins and forecasting. Facilitate ongoing financial trainings for operations managers to develop financial acumen and drive further employee engagement
  • Work closely with Operations and Field Administration to understand project performance, labor costs and spending trends, supporting business information and the development of KPI’s
  • Maintain and communicate monthly metrics and analysis to key management personnel
  • Implement best practices to support timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Develop, streamline, and ensure compliance with finance and accounting policies and procedures
  • Support financial compliance efforts including coordination with tax and advisory providers,
  • Support all external audit efforts, including preparation of the GAAP audit report. Act as the liaison between the accounting team and external CPA
  • Assist with merger and acquisition due diligence and integration as requested

Key Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to understand accounting processes and employ effective auditing capabilities, with specific experience managing the month-end close process
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with a high degree of proficiency in Excel
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365) with the ability to recommend changes and upgrades to meet the needs of the business
  • High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP standards
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
  • 3 years’ minimum experience in accounting role with relevant financial closing and reconciliations
  • CPA and/or previous accounting experience preferred

Pay: Up to $70,000.00 per year
