Hiring Range: $20.96-$26.20Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Pro-rated based on hours/week.
Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) was founded as a 501(c) (3) non-profit medical institution in 2005 aimed at increasing access to health care in medically underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest.
The University currently offers the degrees of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Arts in Medical Science, Master of Science in Occupational Therapy, and Doctor of Dental Medicine enrolling over 550 students annually with plans to develop other programs and/or colleges. Interprofessional education partnerships with other universities adds another 100 students to the population. The campus includes 300 employees with academic programming spread over a five-state region.
PNWU is located in Yakima, WA, a city of approximately 95,000 located in the south-central part of the state near the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains in a major agricultural and outdoor recreation region. General Summary:
Performs various accounting activities associated with the accounting area assigned, processing student accounts billing, federal loan & scholarship disbursements, student cost of living payments, Student 1098-T tax forms, and other specialized accounting functions. May support other accounting activities of the Finance department.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Works with the Student Financial Aid department to process and remit Student Loans to the approved students.
  • Reconciles the Student Loan requests from the Financial Aid department to the Enrollment software, and confirms the loans are proper to be drawn.
  • Prepares the payment amount to be drawn from the Department of Education and presents to the responsible employee to draw the funds.
  • Prepares the EFT to remit the loan amounts to the students and presents to the responsible employee to approve the transactions.
  • Works with students, the Student Financial Aid department, and other departments to resolve issues.
  • Sets up and maintains electronic student records and reconciles transactions for 1098 reporting.
  • Performs month end closing processes. Reconciles Student tuition General Ledger records for accuracy, troubleshoots and solves discrepancies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned and based on departmental need.

Education:

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Experience:

  • Required: Less than 1 year
