Job Title:  ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST III  Shift Schedule: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. JOB SUMMARY:  The Accounting Specialists are primarily responsible for ensuring proper payment of invoices, maintaining accurate accounts payable records, generating invoices for Authority customers, processing receipts of customer payments and posting journal entries. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The following duties are typical for this position. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices. 1. Process all Accounts Receivable functions for the authority including the following: * Maintain customer profiles * Generate monthly and periodic invoices for Authority customers. * Monitor customer accounts and contact customers when necessary. * Issue interest invoices for past due balances. * Review aging balances on a monthly basis or less. * Review new and existing customer contracts for invoicing and financial requirements. * Manage contractual rents and rates for customers. 2. Have the ability to process all Accounts Payable functions as a backup including: * Process and ensure proper coding of purchase quotes, purchase orders, invoices, and credit card transactions. * Maintain vendor files and accounts payable ledgers. * Reconcile monthly billing statements from vendors. * Process and issue payments through accounting and banking software. 3. Create and distribute activity reports to management. 4. Prepare monthly revenue reconciliations and assist with year-end closing entries. 5. Support audit preparation and requests for documentation. 6. Performs all other duties as assigned and directed. 7. Administer and adhere to all Authority policies and guidelines. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The following generally describes the knowledge, skills and abilities required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties. 1. Knowledge of accounting procedures is required. 2. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required. 3. Excellent organizational, analytical and time-management skills. 4. Demonstrated excellent customer service skills. 5. Understanding of lease agreements and revenue recognition principles. EDUCATION/TRAINING:  1. High school graduate or equivalent.  2. Associate degree in Accounting or related field preferred  EXPERIENCE:  1. Minimum of three years’ accounting experience.  2. Experience with Microsoft Business Central preferred. Experience in accounts receivable management and contract compliance preferred. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  1. Ability to obtain and maintain eligibility to hold a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge as may be required by assigned job duties and responsibilities.
