ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST Reports To: Controller FLSA Status: Exempt Supervisory Responsibilities: None Location: Remote / Flexible (Mission-Based Organization) ---------------------------------------- THE ROLE The Investments & Wealth Institute (IWI) is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. This role is essential to our daily operations, ensuring the accuracy of our financial records and the integrity of our reporting. The ideal candidate isn't just a "numbers person"—you are a problem solver who enjoys process improvement, possesses a positive attitude, and has the communication skills to collaborate effectively across a remote team. WHAT YOU’LL DO As a key member of the accounting department, you will manage the full cycle of day-to-day financial activities, from bank reconciliations to system implementations. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES * Financial Maintenance: Prepare and maintain records of assets, liabilities, and P&L activities. * AP/AR Management: Handle daily Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable operations, including vendor reconciliations, invoice coding, and collections. * Monthly Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank statement reviews and reconcile cash disbursement and customer accounts. * Full-Cycle Accounting: Execute journal entries, account analysis, and accrual-based accounting tasks. * Audit Support: Act as a resource for outside auditors by gathering necessary documentation and account information. * Systems & Innovation: Collaborate with software vendors to maintain accounting systems, recommend tech updates, and help automate file upload processes. ---------------------------------------- WHAT YOU BRING * Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field (required). * Experience: At least 3 years of related accounting experience. * Technical Savvy: * Strong understanding of US GAAP and the accrual method of accounting. * High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel power-users preferred). * Experience with Sage 50 Accounting Software is a major plus. * Soft Skills: Excellent proofreading and organizational skills with a laser-focus on detail.
