Description

OBJECTIVE: Provides financial services to family farms of today becoming the farms of tomorrow. The Accounting Specialist will utilize the Pipestone accounting platform and processes to serve our customers producing crops and livestock. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (other duties as assigned) * Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of general ledger structure. * Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions * Process cash receipts and disbursements * Maintain sales order and purchase order systems * Maintain general ledger accounts by reconciling asset and liability accounts * Analyze general ledger accounts to ensure all business transactions are recorded accurately and timely * Understanding of financial reports and preparation of those reports * Maintain depreciation and accrual schedules * Prepare period close information for internal and external users * Prepare financial statements using standard operating procedures * Communicate effectively with agricultural producers * Ability to work in and contribute to a professional team environment * Ability to manage multiple customer files simultaneously * Attention to detail POSITION SPECIFICATIONS Education: 2 or 4 year degree in accounting or agricultural business preferred, but not required. Experience: Knowledge of pork production Knowledge of feed manufacturing Knowledge of commodity risk management and livestock marketing Ability to analyze data Ability to multi-task and prioritize with organizational skills Proficient in MS Excel Strong Mathematical skills Work Environment: Office setting Additional Requirements: Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to work Must be willing to attend early morning or evening meetings as needed Some overnight travel periodically
