Who we’re looking for: The Accounting Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the general accounting functions and will help ensure financials are timely and accurate for VBG. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Accounting Supervisor directly supervises a team and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities, including general ledger preparation, payroll preparation, month-end close, and year-end audit preparation. Requirements Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Manage/oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, cash management, general ledger, fixed assets, and payroll. Maintain accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close. Review journal entries and other accounting transactions and ensure that financial statements are GAAP compliant. Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax authorities. Support annual corporate and benefits insurance renewals for external agencies. Support annual tax schedule preparations for external CPAs. Support the preparation of the annual budget. Assist with the external audit and oversee the timely completion of audit requests. Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and the use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Review and be responsible for the prepared accounting work of staff and senior accountants. Lead and otherwise mentor staff and senior-level accountants assigned to the managing team. Provide periodic/annual reviews of staff and senior accountants assigned to the managing members’ team for the purposes of retention and compensation determinations by the CAO. Qualifications or Competencies: 8+ years of hands-on accounting experience and possess the ability to grasp basic and high-level accounting functions. Manage, mentor, and assist accountants, ensuring continuity of accounting processes. Strong knowledge of GAAP CPA highly preferred MS Office proficiency, including advanced Excel experience. Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment. Record of professionalism, integrity, and ethics Demonstrated experience in implementing and monitoring internal controls. Demonstrated experience in accurate and timely financial reporting. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has supervisory responsibilities.
