Core duties include:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPA or CA designation with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting and tax, ideally in medium to large organizations.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and manage direct reports. Experience with offshore teams is an asset.
  • Strong background in IFRS or USGAAP, along with Canadian and U.S. tax experience.
  • Proven track record of developing and enhancing accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, process improvement initiatives, and automation tools.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Experience with SOX compliance, month-end closing, and tax filings is advantageous.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Corporate Controller in month-end close processes, quarterly reviews, and year-end audits.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals while maintaining compliance with IFRS standards.
  • Contribute to internal and external reporting, including variance analysis and supporting schedules necessary for decision-making.
  • Oversee daily cash positions, prepare cash flow projections, manage bank reconciliations, and oversee transaction postings.
  • Ensure adequate cash flow for business operations by preparing forecasts, analyzing cash flow variances, and managing working capital requirements.
  • Collaborate with banking partners to handle treasury services and financial documentation.
  • Oversee sales tax filings and coordinate corporate income tax filings with external advisors.
  • Support global tax compliance efforts across jurisdictions, including Canada, the U.S., and other regions as needed.
  • Assist in preparing tax provisions, managing documentation for audit/compliance purposes, and monitoring transfer pricing policies.
  • Facilitate applications for tax credits or incentives and provide support during any tax audits.
  • Supervise the accounts payable team, ensuring timely invoice processing, vendor management, and resolution of AP issues in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Monitor AP aging metrics and contribute to process improvement initiatives for increased efficiency.
  • Lead cross-functional projects, such as ERP upgrades and process automation, delivering measurable KPIs to monitor success.
  • Establish strong stakeholder relationships, serving as a trusted business partner to senior management and effectively communicating accounting results and recommendations.
  • Continuously refine processes based on user feedback, performance data, and evolving business needs.
  • Ensure all process documentation is up-to-date and compliant with company policies and standards.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of general ledger accounts, system user access oversight, and segregation of duties.
