As our Accounting Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for leading a team of accountants and bookkeepers across two locations, to ensure the delivery of timely, accurate, and compliant accounting services for our clients. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll balance technical review work with team coaching, workflow management, and continuous process improvement.
You’ll work closely with our Directors and Client Managers to support strategic decision-making, uphold high service standards, and foster a positive and productive team environment. As an integral part of our leadership team, you will contribute to the growth and success of the firm while building lasting client relationships.
This role does require travel around Brisbane area.
Key Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Director, your job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Lead and manage a team of accountants and bookkeepers, including daily task allocation, support, and performance reviews
• Review and approve key deliverables including general ledgers, reconciliations, payroll, BAS/IAS, and financial statements and tax returns
• Ensure the team meets all compliance requirements and client deadlines
• Support team members and facilitate ongoing training and development
• Identify and implement process improvements to streamline service delivery and maintain accuracy
• Collaborate with other departments to support firm-wide initiatives and client outcomes
• Serve as a key escalation point for technical accounting queries and problem-solving
• Assist in business development efforts, including client acquisition
• Stay updated on changes in tax laws, accounting standards, and industry trends to provide informed advice to clients and the team.

You must have:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting, within public practice or commercial settings
• Demonstrated experience in team leadership or supervisory roles
• Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards, tax legislation, and compliance requirements
• CPA or CA qualification (preferred or in progress)
• Exceptional attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to manage deadlines
• Proactive and solutions-focused approach to challenges
• Proven capability in developing, managing, and mentoring high-performing teams
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport across teams and with clients
• Proficient in accounting systems and cloud-based tools (e.g., Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks)
• Registration as a licensed Tax Agent is highly regarded
