Our core business hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday (may vary depending on the role). This position is ideal for someone who is eager to make a meaningful impact, support financial processes, and contribute to efficient and accurate accounting operations.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Under the general direction of the Vice President of Finance, the Accounting Technician is responsible for creating journal entries, assembling supporting documentation, tracking account balances, and completing monthly audits to prepare internal financial statements. Additionally, this role involves analyzing large data sets, compiling information from multiple systems, and preparing reports to support data-driven decision-making. A high level of proficiency in Excel is required to handle complex data sets, perform advanced data analysis, and create financial models. The role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis, and accuracy in managing data.

CHARACTERISTICS, FEATURES, REQUIREMENTS:

This is a full-time position requiring a high degree of administrative competence, attention to detail, and the ability to complete complex calculations. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, and be comfortable communicating across departments. A key component of the role is analyzing large data sets accurately, solving problems efficiently, and working independently on multiple tasks. A solid understanding of the full accounting cycle, bookkeeping procedures, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE), financial analysis methods, and office administration is essential. The ability to compile and synthesize data from various systems and sources, and consistently meet deadlines, is critical to the success of this role.

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITY

  • A minimum of 5 years of accounting and bookkeeping experience, with financial analysis experience preferred;
  • Experience managing and analyzing large datasets across multiple sources and platforms;
  • A solid understanding of GAAP, ASPE, and other relevant accounting standards and regulations;
  • Experience preparing financial statements, including trial balances, balance sheets, and income statements;
  • Strong knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting techniques;
  • Advanced Excel proficiency for data analysis and financial modeling;
  • Familiarity with financial systems such as Sage 100 and Sage 300, with the ability to extract and consolidate data from different platforms;
  • Advanced numerical competence, with the ability to solve complex problems and manage large volumes of financial data with accuracy;
  • Proficiency in Excel and financial systems for data analysis and reporting;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to clearly present financial findings and foster respect in all interactions;
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage demanding workloads with tight deadlines;
  • A high level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail, demonstrating accountability for financial accuracy and compliance;
  • Commitment to excellence in financial reporting and a willingness to seek continuous improvement in processes and outcomes;

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of a post-secondary program in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or a related field;

OR

  • Completion of at least two years in a recognized professional accounting or financial program (e.g., Chartered Professional Accountant or CFA designation)

OR

  • Relevant coursework in accounting, financial analysis, and data management, combined with several years of experience as an accounting clerk, financial analyst, or similar role.
