Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt. Job Posting Number: 3792246 INTRODUCTION: The Accounting Department’s function is to pay, post, receive, balance and reconcile the Tribal financial records. Occasionally an employee may be required to perform other duties that are not in their current job description. The Accounting Department operates as a team in accomplishing all activities. DUTIES: Work all areas of accounts payable. Communicate with program staff as needed to obtain information to support accounting documentation. Resolve billing disputes with vendors. Prepare and upload import files. Prepare monthly journal vouchers and cash disbursements; as needed. Maintain and reconcile assigned general ledger accounts. Prepare and distribute 1099/NEC/1042 forms required by the IRS. Prepare and submit 945 tax form by IRS deadlines; amendments as needed. IRS Tax deposits as required. Maintain accurate vendor information utilizing TIN Matching program. Reconcile corporate credit card to source documents. Assist customers with CTSI Water & Sewer transactions. Other duties as assigned Requirements REQUIREMENTS: TL115 Associate’s degree in Accounting -OR- an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Incumbent may advance to TL 116 and same step after two years of satisfactory experience. TL116 (depending on certifications) Associates degree in Accounting AND two (2) years’ experience in general bookkeeping/accounting field –OR- equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience in: Computerized accounting systems and windows applications. Ability to: Use ten-key and other office equipment. Read and understand financial documents and reports; preferred. Perform accounting functions on a computer. Other: Possess solid interpersonal skills. Must be able to occasionally work some weekends and evenings.
Responsibilities
The Accounting Technician II will work in all areas of accounts payable and communicate with program staff to support accounting documentation. They will also resolve billing disputes, prepare journal vouchers, and maintain general ledger accounts.
