Description Position Title: Accounting Technician Position posting date: 05/20/2026 Position start date: ASAP or until filled Salary/Range: Dependent on Experience Status: Part time (20 hours per week), benefits eligible Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, variable hours between 8:00am to 4:30pm Service/Division: CORE Research Administration/Accounting Work Location: Telework Job Code: MS 1404 Salary: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour Performs monthly reconciliations of various general ledger accounts such as accounts payable, unapplied cash, health benefits, life insurance, etc. Prepare journal entries to make corrections. Maintains spreadsheets tracking the monthly reconciliations. General Accounting: • Performs monthly reconciliations of various general ledger accounts such as accounts payable, unapplied cash, health benefits, life insurance, etc. • Prepares journal entries to make corrections. • Maintains spreadsheets tracking the monthly reconciliations. • Maintains the computerized inventory system for equipment. • Reconciles monthly bank statements. • Processes and coordinates equipment transfers and excised equipment with other VMRF departments. • Prepares the monthly depreciation schedule for fixed assets and building improvements. • Prepares the prepaid insurance journal entries. • Prepares Business Property Statement for County of San Diego form 571. • Prepares San Diego County Assessor form for Welfare Exemption (annual filing) form BOE 267. • Develop and maintain written operational procedures for all tasks performed Requirements Associate’s degree (AA/AS) in a related field from an accredited college or university AND at least 6 months of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Experienced user of Excel, Word and Outlook.
