SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting & Finance (BCom (majoring in Accounting) acceptable
· Minimum 2 years of full time equivalent, onsite experience in accounting and financial management role.
· Proficient in MS365 and Excel Workbooks
· Proficient in accounting software (QuickBooks, Reckon & Xero)
· Proficient in legal software (Clio & LEAP)
· Experience in trust accounting and in-depth knowledge of trust accounting rules and legislation
· Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Acorn Lawyers is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant / Finance Manager to join the head office of our law firm in Wollongong. You will be responsible for managing all financial reporting, management accounting, and general accounting functions within the organisation and its related entities. This is a key role in reporting directly to senior management and requiring a proactive approach to corporate financial planning and strategic accounting input.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ARE AS FOLLOWS, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

· Handle day-to-day accounting operations, trust accounting, accounting and finance data management, invoicing and debt collection.
· Managing accounts payable & accounts receivable.
· Preparing monthly balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statements and changes in financial position.
· Preparing weekly management reports including analysis of overall business performance and financial position to review with the management.
· Managing internal audits and enforcing accounting policies in consultation with management to mitigate business risk.
· Reporting to management and interpreting the impact of the accounting results on all aspects of company operations.
· Reviewing financial records and transactions to ensure they accurately reflect the operating results of the organization.
· Assist in the timely and accurate lodgment of BAS, annual CTR, payroll, FBT, Workcover, licensing, ASIC and other required regulatory compliances.
· Conduct detailed legal trust accounting and auditing tasks.
· Liaise with external auditors, accountants, tax agents, and regulatory bodies as needed.
