ABOUT US
Ossila is a small but high-growth business which manufactures and supplies scientific equipment, materials, and laboratory supplies to institutions around the world. Our aim is to help accelerate the pace of scientific discovery. To do this, we are looking to continue our rapid expansion with a view to building a world-class company of significant size and stature over the next five years. Formed by academics from the University of Sheffield, we now employ over 50 people across our offices in the UK and the Netherlands.
We pride ourselves on our high-quality products, excellent customer support, and accessible prices. Our customers can be found in over 90 countries and include many of the world’s leading research institutions. Most recently, we have won the 2024 King’s Award for International Trade.
Ossila is a growing high-tech business with offices in Sheffield, UK, and the Netherlands. Over 85% of our goods are exported to customers in >90 countries worldwide with sales originating through various channels including website transactions (in a choice of 27 different currencies) as well as direct purchase orders and sales via our European distributor. As a niche manufacturer, we also procure specialist components from multiple different countries. This global reach in sales, suppliers and subsidiary operations adds to the complexity of our accountancy functions making this role ideal for someone who is looking for the next challenge in their book-keeping career.
The core responsibilities are accurate logging of daily transactions for the UK operations (using Sage 50) and support for our European subsidiary (which uses Xero, in EUR). Data inputting includes sales and purchase invoices and payments, including foreign currency conversions, ensuring that item descriptions and associated nominal codes are in-line with company guidance. You will also help the customer care team handle external account queries, assist with credit control and other ad-hoc assignments as needed.
For this role we can provide flexibility to undertake 15 working hours per week spread over a minimum of three separate days. Ideally these days would be spaced throughout the week to ensure the wider business is supported on a regular basis (ie a pattern such as Mon, Weds, Thurs would be preferable over Tues, Weds, Thurs, for example, as the latter leaves two business days in a row with no data entry). Prior experience with accounts inputting is preferred, however full training will also be provided.
