SUMMARY

You will report to the Administration Manager and work closely with the Managing Director at our office in Blackburn. Your role will be key to maintain accurate financial records, processing transactions, and providing essential financial support to the company. Your attention to detail, strong numerical skills, and solid understanding of accounting principles with the ability to apply then to day-to-day operations will be vital to ensure the smooth operation of our financial processes.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5 years proven experience in a similar role (desirable but not essential).
  • AAT certification (desirable but not essential).
  • Experience of work in the manufacturing sector (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong working knowledge of UK accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (essential). Experience using Xero (desirable).
  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude always demonstrating discretion and confidentiality.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and work pro-actively.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build good working relationships.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Basic working knowledge of tax regulations and familiarity with VAT returns (desirable).

Responsibilities
  • Accurately record and maintain up-to-date records of financial transactions (including merchant accounts) in the company’s accounting software.
  • Create new customer and supplier accounts in software.
  • Monitor & record petty cash transactions.
  • Allocate & reconcile bank transactions for accounts receivable.
  • Manage credit control process and maintain regular written and verbal communication with our customers to ensure overdue payments are kept to a minimum.
  • Perform routine credit checks to monitor customer credit levels and terms.
  • Allocate & reconcile bank transactions for accounts payable.
  • Ensure all bills are accurately uploaded are allocated to Purchase Orders and match supplier statements.
  • Monitor and prepare payments for expenses and commissions.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly payment runs.
  • Support Sales and Purchase ledger teams with customer and supplier financial queries.
  • Provide department managers with regular reports including spend/budget and debtor/creditor lists.
  • Provide weekly and monthly financial reports with analysis and interpretation to support financial decision making of senior team.
  • Liaise with the company’s accountant to provide information for the preparation of VAT returns.
