OVERVIEW AND OPPORTUNITY

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounts Manager to join a dynamic and growing practice. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a leadership role where you’ll work closely with the Director to manage a diverse portfolio of clients.

JOB DESCRIPTION

You’ll play a key role in reviewing financial accounts, tax and VAT returns, and ensuring work is delivered accurately and on schedule. You’ll also be responsible for supporting and developing junior staff, while building strong relationships with clients and contributing to the wider success of the team.
This role is ideal for a qualified professional with a strong background in practice who is ready to take ownership of their portfolio and support business growth.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • ACA/ACCA qualified or Qualified by Experience (QBE) with several years in a practice environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of current UK accounting standards
  • Proficient in accounting software including Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
  • Experience with CCH is advantageous but not essential
  • Excellent organisational skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, manage workloads, and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships both internally and externally
  • A professional, dependable, and proactive attitude
  • A team-oriented approach with a desire to contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment
Responsibilities

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and take ownership of a portfolio of clients alongside a Director
  • Review company, partnership, and sole trader accounts
  • Review VAT returns, partnership and personal tax returns
  • Ensure jobs are completed to a high standard and within set deadlines
  • Train, mentor, and supervise junior members of the team
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients to maintain and build strong relationships
  • Assist Partners and Directors in business development and client growth
  • Perform ad hoc duties as directed by a Director
  • Audit experience is an advantage but not essential
