REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION FOR AN ACCOUNTS PAYABLE ANALYST INCLUDE:

  • Positive can-do attitude required
  • Ability to work well in a team and support colleagues
  • College Diploma or other education in a related field preferred
  • Relevant accounting experience preferred (2 years+)
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word)
  • Problem solving, task planning, organizational and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to work required seasonal hours, eg. overtime during busy periods (typically Spring and Fall) and reduced hours in quieter periods (typically Summer).

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to bend, lift and twist

Responsibilities
  • The Accounts Payable Analyst role will cover fish vendors.
  • Complete three-way match on invoices/ DCR’s / FPR’s (purchase order, receiving report, vendor invoice)
  • Enter / verify the multiple lines from DCR’s and FPR’s for data entry accuracy in accounting systems
  • Create credit memos for fishermen medical benefits/ fishermen supplies/ etc..
  • Ensure accurate coding and approval of all Fish Accounts Payable invoices
  • Prepare batches by lakes for review of documentation and preparation for payment (processed by lakes)
  • Monitor account balances in preparation for payment
  • Review accounts payable reports and ensure accounts are paid in a timely manner ensuring credits are taken
  • Monitor prepayments to ensure offsetting transactions
  • Ensure proper follow up of supplier credits for benefits, supplies, etc…
  • Liaise with vendors and other departments to resolve all accounts payable inquiries and discrepancies
  • Process weekly cheque runs
  • File all A/P documentation including outstanding and paid invoices/DCR’s/ FPR’s
  • Review monthly account reconciliations to vendor statements and resolve any account discrepancies
  • Provide support in periodic internal and external audits
  • Assist in the month-end and year-end close
  • Cross-train with other members of the finance team and support them as required.
