At First Mid, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of discretionary short-term incentives (i.e. bonus, incentives, and/or commission). Incentives and benefits are subject to eligibility requirements.    The Accounts Payable Assistant is responsible for assisting all aspects of Accounts Payable for the Company, and its affiliates including expenditure controls and processes.    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Assists with all aspects of the Accounts Payable computer software including usage, maintenance and updating. Ensures accurate and timely payment of invoices whether by check or ACH while adhering to internal control procedures and Company policies throughout the accounts payable process. * Accurately records and posts expenses to general ledgers (including allocations of multi-branch expense invoices). Performs some variance analysis at month end. * Aids with the preparation of the general ledger account reconciliations as assigned. * Assist with verifying, posting, and processing of employee expense reimbursements and corporate credit cards. * Provides support with the recommendations and analysis of vendors to management to determine best pricing in various aspects of expenditures and cost control. * Reviews data contained in the general ledger, unit reports, and various sub-systems to ensure accuracy and reasonableness of recorded financial transactions; researches questions regarding general ledger information from various personnel. * Completes required training associated with job functions. * Performs other duties as assigned   Qualifications Education: * High School diploma required.  Associates degree preferred.  Experience: * Accounts payable or accounting experience preferred. Skills: * Understanding of basic accounting. * High level of interpersonal skills so as to effectively communicate accounting issues to employees, management and outside vendors. * Good analytical skills in order to analyze financial and procedural data. * Must be detail oriented and highly organized.
