KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED; and
  • Work experience of two (2) or more years in accounts payable, or general accounting: and
  • The technical skills of an intermediate to advanced user of MS Office software, computers, and office equipment. The candidate’s technical skills may be tested during the interview process; and
  • Superior performance in the selection process as determined at the discretion of the Hiring Committee, including but not limited to all of the following:
  • any pre-employment interviews,
  • skills testing,
  • credentialing,
  • drug screening,
  • background investigations,
  • reference checks and previous work history,
  • passing a pre-employment drug test and background investigation,
  • possession of a Driver’s License throughout employment and being insurable under the Tribe’s insurance policy.
    Tribal Preference Policy: In accordance with the Spokane Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance Tribal Preference will be observed in hiring.
    Veteran’s Preference: It shall be the policy of the Spokane Tribe to provide preference in hiring to qualified applicants claiming Veteran’s Preference who have been discharged from the United States Armed Forces with honor and under honorable conditions.
Responsibilities
  • Enters and matches invoices with purchase orders and receiving reports in accordance with HIPAA.
  • Processes incoming requests for payments and court orders in accordance with defined procedures.
  • Enters accounts payable related journal entries.
  • Scans and files documents.
  • Verifies account coding to ensure accuracy and sufficient budget availability.
  • Receives and logs cash receipts and provides receipts, as necessary.
  • Maintains vendor files and numbers, as necessary.
  • Provides management with accounts payable information, as requested.
  • Prepares year-end accounts payable reporting and assists with preparation of federal 1099 forms.
  • Assists with year-end audit by providing accounts payable information, as requested.
  • Assists with monthly financial report preparation.
  • Works cooperatively and professionally with internal and external customers to resolve accounts payable issues, as necessary.
  • Processes and maintains court ordered garnishments.
  • Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and in all aspects of work and complies with all applicable tribal, federal, or state laws and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
