ABOUT THE POSITION

Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a temporary full time Accounts Payable Clerk within our Finance Department. The
ideal candidate would be committed to championing the Hospital’s Mission to relieve illness and suffering, and help people
live healthier lives.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • College diploma with a specialization in Accounting, or a minimum of two years of recent Accounts Payable

experience;

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting an asset;
  • Working knowledge of accounting – including principles and best practice, bookkeeping;
  • Advanced proficiency skills in Windows based systems (Word, Excel, Outlook);
  • Knowledge of Meditech an asset;
  • Excellent communication, organizational and customer service skills;
  • Demonstrated analysis and assessment skills with an eye on detail;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment;
  • Proven good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a wide range of clerical duties necessary to the efficient functioning of the department;
  • Processing requests for payments, ensuring proper documentation and coding;
  • Entering, coding and processing invoices and cheque requisitions;
  • Maintain filing system and procedures for record retention, protection, retrieval, transfer, and disposal;
  • Balancing vendor statements including contact and follow-up with vendors;
  • Matching invoices to Purchase Orders and liaising with the Purchasing department for any exceptions;
  • Preparing accounts payable reports;
  • Adherence to all health and safety policies, procedures and provisions and the recognition and reporting of

unsafe hazards and work practices;

  • Other related duties as assigned.

Hours of Work: 8-hour day shift, 5 days per week
