JOB DESCRIPTION

The Accounts Payable Manager will contribute to strategic planning related to accounts payable operations, ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations. This role requires maintaining confidentiality of sensitive financial information and acting as a subject matter expert to advise internal and external customers. The manager will communicate key metrics on accounts payable efficiencies and interface with suppliers, service providers, vendors, and internal teams to resolve inquiries or issues.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Expertise in accounts payable management and operations.
  • Experience in strategic operations, purchase order reconciliation.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Experience in accounts payable, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience directly managing people.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of lien waivers, sales and use tax is beneficial.
Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain key vendor relationships and correspondence.
  • Provide input and review of accounts payable month-end and year-end closing tasks, including preparation of accruals and reconciliations.
  • Prepare and distribute ad hoc reports as required.
  • Ensure accurate preparation and filing of state sales tax returns.
  • Support internal and external audits and prepare audit files/documentation.
  • Coordinate problem-solving discussions to address issues with accounting systems and workflows.
  • Create and update processes and tools to improve accounts payable operations.
  • Provide high-quality hiring, mentoring, and training to staff and co-workers.
  • Coach employees and provide regular performance feedback.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with customers reflecting the company’s core values.
  • Utilize LEAN concepts or other continuous improvement methodologies to ensure efficient operations.
