Description

Heavy construction utility contractor located in western Suffolk County is seeking an experienced full-time Accounts Payable Manager. We are looking for a detail oriented, outgoing individual who thrives working in a team setting. Working within our Accounting Department the selected candidate will play a lead role within our Accounts Payable division and will supervise a staff of four. Responsibilities include:

  • Comply with subcontract provisions, i.e. waivers, certified payrolls, insurance certificates, etc.
  • Maintain vendor relationships
  • Reconcile vendor statements
  • Track equipment purchases
  • Match purchase orders and delivery tickets to invoices and resolve any invoice discrepancies
  • Code and enter invoices into the ERP system (job cost and GL)
  • Route invoices for approval
  • Process payments to vendors
  • Assist other Accounting Department team members, as needed.

The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of relevant experience, be detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast paced, multiple company environment. Experience working in a construction setting preferred. Knowledge of Sage 300 (Timberline) is a plus but is not required.

  • Communicates effectively with Supervisors and Project staff to resolve issues
  • Able to work well in a team environment to accomplish common tasks
  • Willing to cross train within the accounting department and perform other office tasks as needed
  • Must handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism at all times
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills in order to work with executive and support staff
  • Must possess a strong sense of urgency and know how to prioritize work
