Description Accounts Payable Specialist – Job Description Open Dealer Exchange (ODE), is seeking an Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist to support its workforce in Southfield, MI. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role works collaboratively with the accounting department and is responsible for overseeing the accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, expense reports, and payments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, possesses strong mathematical and analytical skills, can identify and resolve errors efficiently, and has a background in accounting or finance. Responsibilities Full-Cycle Accounts Payable Management: Manage all aspects of accounts payable in accordance with company policies and procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial operations. Policy & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and financial regulations to reduce risk and maintain audit readiness. Expense Report Processing: Audit, review, and process employee expense reports in line with company policy, supporting accuracy in employee reimbursements and budget tracking. Month-End Close Support: Assist with month-end close tasks, including accruals related to accounts payable, to ensure financial statements reflect accurate liabilities. Vendor Reconciliation & Resolution: Reconcile vendor statements and proactively address any discrepancies to maintain strong vendor relationships and avoid payment delays. Invoice & Payment Inquiries: Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding payments and invoices in a timely manner to support smooth operations and interdepartmental collaboration. Audit Support: Provide documentation and explanations to support internal and external audit requirements, ensuring compliance and transparency Vendor Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate vendor records and ensure proper documentation is filed and easily accessible. Requirements Required Skills and Experience Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Equivalent relevant experience will also be considered. Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in accounts payable or a similar accounting function. Solid understanding of the full accounts payable cycle and general accounting principles. Preferred Skills and Experience Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (including functions like XLOOKUP and Pivot Tables). Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately and efficiently. Proven ability to maintain accuracy in data entry and financial reporting. Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
