Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Burnaby, British Columbia. This is a six-month Contract position, offering an opportunity to transition into a long-term role based on performance. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing invoice processing, reconciliation, and month-end activities while supporting a high-performing accounts payable team.

Responsibilities
  • Verify invoice upload results and address any discrepancies identified during the scanning process.
  • Ensure accuracy by reviewing imported invoices and auto-populated details in the Oracle system.
  • Perform three-way matching of invoices to corresponding purchase orders and receipts within a paperless Oracle environment.
  • Reconcile outstanding purchase order receipts to facilitate accurate invoice matching.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve invoice or payment-related issues efficiently.
  • Handle month-end closing activities for the accounts payable module in Oracle.
  • Support quarter-end processes, including monitoring incoming invoices for accrual purposes.
  • Provide backup support to other accounts payable functions, such as processing payments, auditing credit card and employee expense reports, and recording journal entries.
  • Maintain compliance with internal controls and corporate standards, including adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  • A minimum of 3-4 years of full-cycle accounts payable experience.
  • Proficiency in Oracle systems and strong intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including the use of VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage complex reconciliation processes.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact confidently and assertively with team members and external stakeholders.
  • Capability to work independently while adhering to established processes and procedures.
  • A commitment to maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance standards is considered an asset.
