MEDICAL BILLER & CODER

We are a large, fast paced family medicine practice located in Rochester Hills, MI. We are looking for experienced full-time Medical Biller/Coder to join our team. Certification in Medical Billing and Coding, COPC or past experienced preferred, however, we are willing to train the right motivated candidate. The right candidate is someone who is a self-starter, motivated, positive, excellent communication and customer service skills and passionate about what they do.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Review patient bill for accuracy and completeness and obtain any missing information
  • Review EMR for accuracy before moving claim to billing software
  • Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
  • Take, process, and post patient payments over the telephone
  • Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe
  • Call insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary
  • Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances
  • All accounts are to be reviewed for insurance or patient follow-up
  • Research and appeal denied claims.
  • Answer all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts.
  • Set up patient payment plans and work collection accounts
  • Ensure clients are assisted in a courteous and expedient manner
  • Growing use and knowledge of applicable company technology, paperless systems, tools and processes

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma/ GED -Required
  • Certification in Medical Billing and Coding, COPC
  • Ability to code conditions and procedures using ICD-10-CM and CPT
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Experience with electronic medical records
  • Knowledge of insurance guidelines, including HMO/PPO, Medicare, and state Medicaid
  • Effective communication, multi-task and problem solving
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks based on importance
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills
  • Job Type: Full-time or Part Time
  • Salary: $20.00 to $25.00 /hour
    Job Type: Part-time
    Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
    Expected hours: 40 per week
