Job Title: Accounts Receivable Clerk
Location: Halifax, NS

About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our finance team. This role is critical in ensuring accurate and timely rent processing, tenant account reconciliation, and financial reporting within a real estate-focused organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rent Collection & Posting: Process tenant payments (EFT, cheques, credit cards) and post transactions accurately in property management software.
  • Tenant Account Management: Maintain up-to-date records, ensure timely invoicing, and track outstanding balances.
  • Follow-Up on Delinquencies: Monitor accounts, send reminders, and work with property managers to address overdue payments.
  • Communication & Tenant Relations: Respond to tenant inquiries regarding their accounts with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Bank Deposits & Reconciliations: Prepare and reconcile deposits, ensuring accurate financial records.
  • Financial Reporting: Generate accounts receivable aging reports and assist in monthly financial statements.
  • Lease Compliance: Ensure billing aligns with lease agreements, including rent increases and additional charges.
  • Process Improvements: Identify efficiencies to enhance the accounts receivable function.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education & Experience:
  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in accounts receivable, preferably in real estate or property management In Canada.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Experience with property management software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
