Thompson Coburn, a large full-service law firm with offices in eight (8) cities across the U.S., is in search of a full-time non-exempt Accounts Receivable Specialist to join its St. Louis office. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this position will provide a variety of accounting services for all attorneys, assistants, and staff. Primary responsibilities will include managing the cash receipts process and ensuring all receipts are recorded promptly and accurately. After an initial period of training, this position is eligible for a hybrid-remote work schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the accounting of client trust accounts.
  • Prepares daily deposits of cash/checks received.
  • Researches, inputs and posts all daily cash receipts to appropriate invoices and/or G/L accounts.
  • Reports cash receipt activity to appropriate personnel.
  • Researches and resolves questions or problems regarding cash receipts or client trust issues.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • The ability to respond to requests requiring basic financial analysis.
  • Requires proficient Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
  • Requires the ability to perform arithmetic computations at a level normally acquired through completion of an Associate degree in accounting, finance or equivalent experience.
  • Minimal travel may be needed.
  • Requires an understanding of finance policies and procedures.
  • Requires attention to detail, ability to balance multiple projects and have strong time management skills.

Education and Experience Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in accounting or related field preferred.
  • Minimum two years of accounting job experience required.
  • Professional services firm experience preferred.
  • Experience with Aderant software preferred.
