Position Objective The Accreditation Officer is responsible for implementation of the accreditation processe including the Revised Accreditation Framework s by contributing to the development of accreditation-related strategies, policies, standards and guidelines supporting Regional Departments and Department of Private Sector Facility to identify potential Accredited Entity partners and applicants for the ability to contribute to country-driven transformational projects/programmes. S/he will support the Accreditation Committee and the Accreditation Panel of the Board in line with their respective roles in relation to accreditation. S/he will assess the capacity needs of entities, and collaborate with colleagues and external partners to deliver services to address the needs identified. Purpose Identify and guide, based on an analysis of strategies of countries on identifying potential Accredited Entities for programming and capabilities of potential Accredited Entities and applicants, potential Accredited Entities and applicants through the accreditation process, particularly in addressing related capacity needs where identified Support the development of accreditation-related strategies, policies, standards, guidance and tools to enable a diverse and balanced portfolio of accredited entities capable of delivering on country-driven transformational projects/programmes Engagement Interact with countries and potential Accredited Entities and applicants throughout the accreditation process, including providing guidance to and support the review of applications from applicants Collaborate with colleagues across divisions/offices to ensure effective policy development and outreach to countries and potential Accredited Entities and applicants on accreditation , and that the necessary services and support are delivered to them in a timely manner Delivery Coordinate analytical work on country approaches to identifying potential Accredited Entities and applicants so that it is systematically organized, informs the work of colleagues through relevant knowledge management systems and guides decision-making on Accredited Entity partnerships and initiatives and actions plans to support capacity needs of such entities Coordinate the cycle of accreditation with entities and across divisions/offices in GCF to ensure delivery of services in a timely manner Requirements (Education, experience, technical competencies required of the job) Master’s degree and at least five (5) years of relevant work experience in economics, finance, sustainable development, climate/environment policy, political science, law or related fields; or a Bachelor's degree in similar fields with an additional two (2) years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the Master’s degree requirement. Experience in developing countries and/or in a multilateral programming environment, and broad knowledge of climate change and climate finance are an advantage. Strong competence and autonomy in the use of standard software programmes: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access. Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of another United Nations language is an advantage. The closing date for application is 22 February 2026.
