REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong mechanical engineering background.
  • Experience in product or attribute development, particularly in squeak & rattle, NVH, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of component, system, and whole vehicle technical specifications and design critique.
  • Expertise in both physical and/or virtual testing environments (simulation, static/dynamic test rigs, prototype vehicles).
  • Skilled in complex problem solving, root cause analysis, and developing practical countermeasures.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication and influencing skills, able to work with R&D, Quality, Production, and Design teams.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and deliver against tight project constraints.
  • Strong customer-focused mindset and proactive attitude.

PRACTICAL AND TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:

  • Experience in subjective and objective evaluation methods, including jury evaluations.
  • Proficiency in documenting and presenting development status and technical recommendations.
  • Familiarity with VW Group systems is beneficial.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Client is seeking an Acoustics Squeak & Rattle Engineer to join their Whole Vehicle Body Acoustics team. You will play a vital role in ensuring exceptional vehicle quality by delivering the Squeak & Rattle attribute across current and future model lines.
You will work hands-on with physical vehicle testing, using on-site shake rigs, as well as manage complex investigations into root causes and collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Design, Quality, and Production teams to develop and implement effective solutions.
This role is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer passionate about automotive product development, problem-solving, and working in high-quality, technical environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the development and delivery of Squeak & Rattle performance targets for the whole vehicle.
  • Support attribute target setting through competitor benchmarking and detailed analysis.
  • Identify, diagnose, and solve complex Squeak & Rattle issues via root cause analysis and the development of countermeasures.
  • Manage the concerns process to ensure effective delivery of resolutions across the design and production functions.
  • Conduct physical vehicle testing using on-site rigs and third-party proving grounds.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure a consistent and aligned delivery of Squeak & Rattle standards across the business.
  • Manage and coordinate outsource activities with external service providers.
  • Support strategic development initiatives to continuously improve Squeak & Rattle methods, techniques, and technologies.
  • Participate in extreme environment testing (temperature and dynamic conditions) and develop validation strategies.
