The Role You Play As an ACT Peer Support Specialist, you will use your lived experience with mental health recovery to provide encouragement, support, and hope to individuals with severe mental health symptoms receiving Assertive Community Treatment services. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to deliver intensive, community-based support that helps individuals remain engaged in treatment and move forward in their recovery. Your Day-to-Day: Provide community-based peer support services in settings such as homes, workplaces, shelters, schools, stores, and other locations based on client needs. Build supportive relationships with clients by using lived experience to offer encouragement, mentorship, recovery support, and positive coping strategies. Help clients strengthen recovery by building resources and support networks, encouraging self-advocacy, and promoting independent decision-making. Assist clients in identifying triggers, managing challenges, and staying engaged in treatment through assertive outreach and ongoing support. Advocate for client rights, dignity, confidentiality, and community integration while providing crisis support and helping coordinate emergency services when needed. Complete documentation in a timely manner, participate in team meetings and supervision, and transport clients as needed using a personal or company vehicle. To be successful in this role, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent, current or past lived experience as a primary consumer of mental health services, strong communication skills, basic computer skills, and a valid driver’s license with automobile liability insurance. Candidates with Kansas Peer Specialist certification are preferred, though certification may be obtained within one year of employment. Employees in this role must also be in stable recovery from a mental or behavioral health condition. Requirements Qualifications: Required: - Current or past life experience as a primary consumer of mental health services. - High School Diploma or equivalent - Oral and written communication skills using the English language. - A valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance maintained in accordance with Pawnee policy and procedure. - Basic personal computer skills which enable the entry, retrieval and use of electronic data. All employees will be required to submit to and pass a background check and drug screening. Preference will be given in employment to candidates with Kansas certification as a Peer Specialist (CPS), however, in any case the incumbent must become certified within one year of employment. Preferred: - Experience with Microsoft Office software.
