DESCRIPTION
LAWYERING PROGRAM FACULTY, New York University School of Law, Academic Year 2026-2027. Seeking applicants for several full-time, non-tenure-track Acting Assistant Professor positions to teach a two-semester course. The Lawyering Program provides support for faculty scholarship and preparation for entering the law teaching market as well as opportunities for reflection on practice. The position offers an excellent opportunity to work with students in a cutting-edge simulation-based curriculum. Lawyering introduces first-year law students to legal analysis, fact development, legal research, legal writing, oral advocacy, and client counseling in litigation and transactional settings. Most Lawyering professors transition into tenure-track clinical or doctrinal teaching positions. Some choose to transition into new areas in the legal profession or other positions in academia.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications include a JD degree, excellent academic record, bar admission, significant practice experience (generally three years or two years plus a clerkship), and demonstrated ability in the capacities the course is designed to develop. Starting salary is $75,000. The appointment is for one year (June 1, 2026-May 31, 2027) with the possibility of up to two subsequent one-year renewals.
In compliance with New York City’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $75,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
