Join our compassionate team at Allegria Village, one of Michigan’s premier senior living communities. We’re currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-Time Activities Assistant to support our Life Enrichment program and make a positive impact in the lives of our residents.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As an Activities Assistant, you’ll help plan and facilitate engaging group and one-on-one activities for our residents in Assisted Living. This hands-on role involves creativity, organization, and personal interaction with a diverse resident population. The position includes flexible hours, with availability needed for some weekends, evenings, and holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 2 years of experience working in an activity or recreational setting with older adults
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive, respectful attitude and pleasant demeanor
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Respect for resident rights, including privacy, dignity, and personal choice
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in a dynamic environment

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree preferred, but not required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift at least 20 lbs
  • Must be physically able to walk, stand, bend, lift, stretch, push, pull, and perform other related tasks

Responsibilities
  • Assist with implementing resident-focused activities as directed by the Life Enrichment Director and in alignment with care plans
  • Prepare and organize activity spaces, ensuring cleanliness and accessibility
  • Set up and take down materials and equipment for scheduled programs
  • Encourage resident participation and provide transportation to/from activities as needed
  • Monitor resident engagement and report behavioral or medical concerns to nursing staff
  • Maintain accurate documentation and support recordkeeping tasks
  • Contribute to a cheerful and welcoming community environment
  • Support seasonal decorating, care for plants, and help residents personalize their living spaces
  • Participate in facility-wide special events and themed days
  • Continue activity programming in the absence of the Life Enrichment Director
  • Assist with planning and coordinating enriching programs such as entertainment, workshops, classes, and guest lectures
  • Build strong relationships with residents to tailor activities to their interests and abilities
  • Network with local organizations to enhance in-house programming
  • Create promotional materials (flyers, newsletter articles) for activities and events
  • Track participation and provide general support for events and services
  • Attend required training sessions, in-services, and department meetings
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
