Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To support the Activity Coordinator in planning, preparing, and facilitating social and recreational activities, events, and outings for individuals supported by the service. This role enhances the daily lives of the people we support by promoting engagement, inclusion, and enjoyment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Activity Coordinator in delivering a comprehensive programme of person-centred activities both within and outside of the service.
  • Encourage and support participation in planned activities, helping individuals make choices in line with their preferences and support plans.
  • Assist in setting up and tidying away activities and materials.
  • Escort and support individuals on outings and community visits as directed by the Activity Coordinator or management.
  • Liaise with staff, family members, and community contacts to help facilitate and promote engagement in activities.
  • Promote positive interactions and a welcoming environment during activities, ensuring the dignity, independence, and wellbeing of individuals is maintained.
  • Observe and report any changes in individuals’ participation or behaviour to the Activity Coordinator or appropriate manager.
  • Comply with all health and safety, safeguarding, and infection control procedures.
  • Attend relevant training, supervision sessions, and team meetings as required.
  • Support the maintenance of activity resources and materials, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and availability.
  • Maintain basic records of activities and engagement as required by the Activity Coordinator or management.
  • Promote an open, inclusive, and respectful atmosphere for individuals supported and colleagues alike.

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Report any safeguarding concerns immediately to the Service Manager or, in their absence, to the Area Manager.
  • Support the implementation of the organisation’s safeguarding and whistleblowing policies.
  • Help promote a culture where individuals feel safe and respected, and staff feel comfortable reporting concerns.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of individuals supported during all activities and outings.
  • Read, sign, and comply with the organisation’s Fundamental Standards and all safeguarding policies.
