Description SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The Activities Assistant helps create fun, engaging daily programs that enhance the quality of life for our dementia residents. Responsibilities include assisting with planning and leading activities, transporting residents to community outings, supporting calendar preparation, and helping plan and decorate for holidays and special events. The role also involves assisting and supervising residents during activities, observing and reporting changes in health or mental status, and maintaining organized activity supplies and inventory. We currently have available: 28 hours, part-time; required to work every other weekend and on holidays Requirements Must have 1 to 2 years of experience working with the elderly and/or dementia/alzheimer’s populations. Experience providing programs or services to the elderly. Must be responsible, organized, and dependable with the ability to communicate effectively with senior citizens and their families. MS Office skills required. Must be flexible, a good team player, and able to work some evenings and weekend hours. Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm. Must be able to express oneself clearly, verbally and in writing. Has a history of responsible, accident-free driving. A background in recreation therapy or art therapy is highly desirable. High school diploma or GED required. An associate’s or bachelor’s degree is preferred. Students pursuing a master’s degree program in art therapy or recreational therapy are strongly urged to apply, as valuable experience is gained through this opportunity.
