Job summary
An opportunity has risen for an activities coordinator to join a growing team across Devon and south of England.
We are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic, compassionate and easy going person to work with our team of support staff both in-house and in the community to support our residents and clients.

Skills / Qualifications:

• Ability to work within and promote a cohesive team working environment and equally able to work to high standards without direct supervision
• Good oral
• written and verbal communication skills

• stimulate and motivate individuals to participate in activities and things that interest them
• Able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of ‘Ordinary Life’
• Must be a driver with at least 2 years clean drivers licenc

Experience:

• activities co ordinator role in a care home setting: 2 years (preferred

AIMS / PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

• To provide support in all areas / activities of daily living to service users with mental health problems, learning disability and autism.
• As part of the support team, you will contribute to assessment of service user needs and planning of care / activity support programs.
• You will support / encourage each person in areas of socialization, communication and imagination

• To support the Registered Manager in the undertaking of their duties.
• To support / enable people with autism to experience life opportunities in line with the service philosophy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Co-operate with all Service staff in maintaining / promoting good relationships with outside agencies and the public in order to uphold the image of the Company and increase support for its work.
• Identify resident activity needs and wishes through assessment, observation and discussion.
• Liaise with activities staff, residents, relatives, friends of residents and staff to ensure full knowledge of the resident’s likes, dislikes, interests, abilities and difficulties.
• Explore the most appropriate methods and resources for meeting activity needs, including group events, individual sessions, involving internal and external sources and involving community-based resources.
• Plan a varied programme of activity based around the needs of the resident group using the identified sources in conjunction with Management, the activities staff and other colleagues.
• Advertise the planned programme in an appropriate manner which encourages involvement of all activities staff, residents, relatives and staff.
• Provide activities based on the planned programme in a flexible manner, allowing for necessary changes.
• Maintain written records of resident assessments, resident participation and activity evaluations in line with the Quality Manual.
• Maintain a portfolio of information, including the range of activities available within the Home and the local community.
• Regularly review resident needs, the programme of activities and levels of participation, in conjunction with Management.
• Organise theme events as required, based on local holidays, traditions, etc.
• Organise outings as appropriate, considering safety needs and staffing requirements.
• Some events may be outside your normal working day and it is expected that you would attend these as and when appropriate.
