ABOUT US

Old Alresford Cottage is a residential care home looking after residents that are elderly frail, many of whom may have dementia-related needs.
At Old Alresford Cottage we pride ourselves in supporting our residents to remain engaged and active in life, celebrating the individual, personalised care and building a community of support and friendliness. We have a community of residents with a wide spectrum of varied needs including those living with dementia, diverse learning needs, and experiencing physical and mental health challenges.
No two days are the same, and the Activities Team are central to the everyday wellbeing of our residents and wider community. This means that being flexible and adaptable are necessary and the below is an outline of the main aspects of the role.

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning, creating and delivery of meaningful, stimulating and fun activities for every one of our residents in both group sessions and on a personal 1:1 basis. At times this also involves the wider community. Getting to know each resident and their loved ones to help build an individual programme suited to needs and interests.
  • Encouraging residents and their wider network in engaging and participating in planned activities as much as they choose. Encouraging them to be an active partner in the opportunities offered.
  • Arranging and supporting regular residents’, families’ and friends’ meetings to explore and communicate matters relating to the home and activities programme
  • To co-produce and distribute a monthly newsletter about the activities programme for the wider home community.
  • The making and recording of content for social media channels, liaising with the management so they can publish/ post this.
  • Supporting the Carer Team and Team Leaders as directed when necessary, including some assistance with eating and drinking.

The needs of the role is a full-time role and to ensure the fullest possible coverage includes working alternate weekends.

About you:

  • Are you a positive, creative and organised person who strives to do the best for the people they work with?
  • Are you adaptable, with a sense of humour and do you still believe in making magic happen?
  • If so and you can meet the job requirements, then we would like to hear from you.

Pre-application chats and visits are welcomed; please contact Emma to discuss any questions or queries about the role.
