JOB PURPOSE:

To plan, coordinate, and deliver a range of stimulating, person-centred activities that support the physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being of residents, including those living with dementia. The Activities Coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing residents’ quality of life through meaningful engagement tailored to individual needs and abilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and implement a varied programme of daily group and one-to-one activities, taking into account the interests, histories, and capabilities of all residents, including those with dementia.
  • Create dementia-friendly activities that support memory, reduce anxiety, and encourage social interaction.
  • Work closely with care staff to integrate meaningful activity into daily routines and individual care plans.
  • Build strong relationships with residents to understand their life stories, enabling personalised engagement that supports cognitive stimulation and emotional well-being.
  • Encourage participation from all residents, adapting approaches to suit individual needs, particularly those with advanced dementia or limited mobility.
  • Organise events and entertainment, including seasonal celebrations, music sessions, reminiscence therapy, arts and crafts, and sensory-based activities.
  • Liaise with families to gather insight and encourage their involvement in events and resident engagement.
  • Keep accurate records of participation and progress, and contribute to reviews and care planning.
  • Ensure all activities are safe, inclusive, and compliant with CQC regulations and infection prevention protocols.
  • Manage resources effectively, including budgets, equipment, and supplies.
  • Maintain links with local community groups, volunteers, and entertainers to enrich the home’s activity programme.
