POSITION SUMMARY: The Activities Coordinator is responsible for the group fitness activities of our residents. The Activities Coordinator- Group Fitness will work closely with the staff Recreation Therapist to develop residents' therapeutic activities. JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: • Follows any medical regime developed for the patient by the nursing department. • Leading the patients in group fitness activity programs while providing direction, guidance, and encouragement as appropriate. • Follows any medical regime developed for the patient. • Carries out the daily activities for the patients as needed. • Develops a therapeutic relationship with patients. • Coordinates with staff Recreational Therapist regarding therapeutic activities. • Plans appropriate activities for assigned group. • Ensures that patient activities are designed to meet the needs and interests of each patient • Demonstrating an ability to assess patients' emotional, physical, and mental capabilities and limitations when planning the group fitness class. • Ensuring patient group size is held to a therapeutic level. • Performs other duties as assigned. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: • High School diploma or equivalent. EXPERIENCE: • Two years in the healthcare field with one year in an activities-related field. Page 2 of 2 N3ACGF LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: • Certified Professional Trainer Preferred. • Certified in AHA BLS/CPR. • Must obtain current tuberculosis test within the first fourteen (14) days of employment and annually after that. Maintain current certification in good standing during employment with this facility, or obtain within thirty (30) days of hire.
Responsibilities
The Activities Coordinator is responsible for leading group fitness activities for residents and developing therapeutic activities in collaboration with the Recreation Therapist. They ensure that activities meet the needs and interests of each patient while maintaining a therapeutic group size.
